It sounds like you may be using KeisSearch, which is the search box on our homepage that searches everything the library owns (books, DVDs, ebooks as well as journal articles) all at one time.  Instead, try searching in a particular database. 

On the Library's homepage, under the Resources pull-down menu, click on Databases A to Z.  Here you can select an individual database depending on the subject area you are researching.

If you encounter the Full Text Finder link within one of these databases under an article, click on it and it should take you to another database where that article is available.
