To find primary sources on your topic a good place to start is the Library's History Research Guide. To access this guide go to the Library's homepage at gmercyu.edu/library and scroll down to Research Help. Click on Research Guides and then select American History from the list. Once you are in the American History Research Guide you will see a tab labeled Primary Sources. Here you find some that may be helpful like the Library of Congress site as well as the National Archives and Records Administration. They're both government sites.
For secondary sources on your subject, click on the Find Articles tab in the American History Research Guide. Here you will see a list of research databases available from the library that contain many secondary sources such journal and magazine articles.
You may also wish to look for books in the Library on your topic, which may contain either primary or secondary sources. Click on the Find Books tab in the Resarch Guide and enter your topic in the center box. Click search and you will be taken into the Library's catalog where you can see books and other materials available in the Library.
Please ask the librarians at the Reference Desk or give us a call at 215-646-7300 ext. 21484 if you have any questions.
